By | Web Design, WordPress | No Comments

I hope you are enjoying our series on SEO tips for WordPress and that you can make use of this. This is the sixth episode where we’re going to talk about generating or using the sitemap that you generated in the last episode and add that to Google so that it can begin to index your site. So you’re going to take the URL that you got from the XML sitemap generator that you used. In our case we used the SEO plugin by Yoast and you’re going to add that to the Google webmasters search console. So what you want to do is head on over to google.com/webmasters. There is a nice green button there that says “search console.” If you’ve already logged in, all you have to do is go to the search console. Otherwise you have to log in to Google. Once you’re inside there, you’re going to go and add your property but your property is essentially your website. If you’ve been following this series we’re setting up our WordPress site for optimal SEO. the next thing we’re going to do is generate an XML sitemap. WordPress out of the box is pretty good at SEO. that’s why a lot of websites use it but there’s two plugins I can recommend to help boost your WordPress SEO. The first one is called Yoast SEO. and that’s by the team Yoast; this is the one I use when I’m building websites. The Nice thing about this is that it sets up all the backend stuff all the hidden stuff that you need to do as well as offering suggestions while you write content on how to improve that content. So when you’re writing the content you tell it what keywords your trying to target and it tells you or it makes recommendations on the things you need to do while you’re writing that content so that you achieve all the different things that you need to do for SEO. on the site. The second plugin I recommend or I’ve used in the past it’s called the All in One SEO. pack. This does a lot of things that the Yoast SEO does, for example help you optimise titles, generate meta tags again it does all the back end stuff that you need to do but it’s not…
